Stop-Gap post. I felt a bit guilty for not uploading a portrait in... oooh, 5 months. I have got some proper portraits well underway, but for a while there it was horribly hot and sticky here (not really good portrait drawing weather, as everything smudges) and I've been so busy that rather than starting a big portrait, which I'll loose interest in over the several months I can see it'll take me to finish it, I've been sketching a bit, because I can actually finish these in an evening. Generally they are from photos in the tv times, which is generally easily within my reach at the time. These are all about A4, and done freehand while watching TV, so there are bound to be more mistakes than I usually have, when I spend much more time on details.
So, I hope you portrait-lovers out there enjoy these less-refined pieces! I do hope to have something big and finished for you all soon!
So, left to right: - Keeley Hawes as Cynthia in Wives and Daughters: 2hours, Dec 2007 (from a screenshot) - Scarlett Johansson: 3hours, Jan 2008 - Keira Knightly: 2hours, Dec 2007 - Cherie Lunghi in Much Ado About Nothing : 3hours, Jan 2008 (from a screenshot) - Elke Sommer: 1hour, March 2008 (yes, her eyes aren't level, I know ) - John Simm in Life on Mars: 2.5hours, March 2008
So, enjoy! Keeley Hawes and John Simm are my favourites here, what are yours?
Note the watermarks everyone, and don't steal, though why you'd want to, I don't know.
Cool! I really like the Keira Knightley one, her hair looks great!

Awesome portraits! Perhaps not as overawing as works that take a month to complete, but they have a quality. For a maker of portraits - of far lesser quality - this dev is very inspirational. the poses, light, and way they are drawn gave me some great new ideas.
