Third Installment, mainly to show that I'm a busy person. Anyway, I always like seeing other people's sketches, so hopefully y'all like seeing mine. A lot of these are preps for finished illustrations.
So, from left to right:
- Some chickens (I got a book of chicken photos for my birthday - perfect sketching opportunities!)
- Moist Von Lipvig and Adora Belle Dearheart in Terry Pratchett's Making Money. (No refs)
- Random early character design for Snow White. (no ref)
- Sketch for a digital illustration. This is the evil queen in Snow White. (No refs (hence the wonky tiger))
- Three random portraits. Drawing faces while watching tv is a habit of mine. (No refs)
- Sketch for a watercolour illustration, redoing a project I did a couple of years ago - a mock cover for Heyer's Why Shoot a Butler? (personal refs. I suffer for my art. I was attacked by my hapless father to get the original shot )
- Some spaniels, studies for a book dummy I'm preparing. (refs from google)
- Character sketch of Ella (from 'Ella in the Cathedral', also in my gallery) for Makenzi. (no ref) (Ella is copyright Makenzi Crouch)
- Another pencil sketch for a digital painting. Snow White is lost in the desert.
Materials: Pencil, mainly a mechanical pencil 0.5, with #B leads.
Enjoy! I'd love to hear what you think! What do you like best?
Thankyou! Sometimes I get a bit carried away with my sketches, and they do end up rather detailed! Either that or they're totally illegible to anyone but me....
Thankyou! I got rather carried away with that sketch, until I realised that I wasn't actually supposed to be doing a pencil drawing... and forced myself to stop tweaking it.
OMG you used the word wonky.. I love you. The spaniels are absolutely precious esp the one with one eye closed. I really like seing more than people. I assumed you could draw other subjects but I dont think i'd seen a chicken from you before

I had fun drawing that spaniel, I must say! No, there are cats, cassowaries, horses, dogs, frogs, sheep, butterflies and lizards in my gallery, but these are the first chickens. I tend to stick animals into my illustrations, so mainly they end up hiding a bit! But chickens are great fun to draw. I love their expressions. Every time I pick up that book I want to create an illustrations with a really disgruntled chicken in. Fortunately I haven't worked out what said chicken is disgruntled about, because I really haven't the time for that right now!
