Julia Ormond starred in 'Sabrina', with Rex Harrison, in 1995. I know she has been in other things since then, but I haven't seen them, and can't remember what they are. But, I thought her very pretty, and scoured the net for good pictures, before settling on this one.
I used a 0.5 mechanical pencil, with a B lead, and two solid graphite pencils, of 4B and 6B weight. When in photoshop I adjusted the levels, so that the blacks I had spent so long creating were black once again. (evil scanner). What you see is pretty much how it looks in real life now.
Relitavely quick to do: about 3-4 hours, and completed in just 2 days. I drew the outline in the evening, started the shading while helping out in my mother's year 2-3 class the next day, and completed it in the evening, while watching Roger Moor in 'The Saint' (A pic of him is coming soon too! )
Thanks so much. Julia Ormond has such a lovely, serene expression.
The necklace was torture- in the photograph it was out of focus, so it turned out a bit wonky.
Thanks again!
only wish it was a little unfinished...it looks too complete ..and it makes more rigid also loses spontenity..it becomes more as a good hard work...but that individual signature..style..uniqueness...and a class of its own??
i hope u understand ..why not break away and do things a little different!
I'll keep your thoughts in mind. I do do things a little more spontenously sometimes, but I know I often include too much detail. I'm told it is becuase I have extremely good eyesight, and so drawing what I see becomes a little cluttered And then, too, admiring photorealism doesn't really help, does it?
Thanks for the explanation. I like to know how to improve!
